On so many different levels.

I'm reaching out out of my comfort zones, trying to connect with people and groups I never thought I had the capacity, socially or otherwise, to. MLIA has shown me that people are a lot nerdier than they will admit to OR that there are more nerds around than I previously noticed and it just brings my little black heart aflutter. VlogBrothers introduced me to being a NerdFighter and I am beyond grateful for that. I feel that because of my simple, nerdy outlook on everything, I have a support group just waiting to be embraced. They, in turn, have turned me into things like NaNoWriMo and wanting to get more involved in politics, as well as diving back into reading. As a bonus, I'm going to a Nerdfighter gathering this weekend! I have never been so excited about going to the library, and I want to be a librarian!

Speaking of libraries, I've been volunteering at one nearby and I've come to realize just how many people really do rely on libraries. I usually consider mostly students or people wanting to read coming in just for entertainment or research. I personally use it as a place to get away, to find a nice cozy spot and devour the books around me, and try to ignore the insanely loud or obnoxious people that filter through. But now, after being placed right in the middle of all these people, I notice people come into the library and the bookstore for so many reasons: self help getting through divorce or addiction, finding gifts for family members and introducing younger generations to books and reading. Libraries aren't dead! Take that!

Also, after close to a year hiatus, I've decided to get back into dA and GaiaOnline. They aren't as, well, intimate to me as I remember them being, but I'm sure in time they too will.
